Khasta Moong dal Kachori

Hello All,

I am back again with a new recipe after a long time . Ramadan Mubarak to all! Today's recipe is Ramadan special as its very easy and quick to prepare without you wasting much of your energy in kitchen. The ingredients used are quite basic(vegetables are not so easily available since few days because of the farmer strike)so this recipe won't require any vegetable and still its easy on palette and can be served as an evening snack.

Ingredients :
For kachori:
2 cups - maida(All purpose flour)
1/2 cup-Cooking Oil
1/4th cup of water.
1 tspn - Salt

For filling:

2 cups- Moong dal
1/2 tspn-Asafoetida
1 tspn- ginger garlic paste
1 tspn-Coriander powder
1 tspn- garam masala powder
2-Green chillies
1 cup- Fresh coriander.

Method:

First we need to make a dough for our kachoris.
Take  a bowl, add maida, salt and oil. Mix it well and then start adding water to knead the dough. Make sure to add only 1/4th cup of water in parts so that dough binds well and is soft.
Keep the dough aside covered with a lid or cloth.
Now we prepare the filling for which we have soaked moong dal for two hrs and grinded it in a coarse texture.
Take 2 tspn oil in a pan, let it heat and add cumin seeds, ginger  garlic paste, salt, coriander and garam masala powder, finely chopped green chillies. Fry the content well and add moong dal to the pan.
Cook the daal for 15 minutes till all mixture binds with daal and till its dry.Add some fresh coriander to it
Keep the mixture aside to cool down.
Now to fill the kachori, take small round parts of dough and roll it to form a small katori like a momo or a modak.
Fill the katori with daal mixture and close it to form a round flattened ball.
Heat the oil to fry kachori.
Now, roll the round stuffed balls to form a thick small circle and place the kachoris in medium hot oil to fry.
Fry the kachori from both sides until it turns light golden brown and till it looks fluffy.
Serve the delicious hot kachoris with mint chutney or tomato ketchup simply.
